  24. There WILL NEVER BE "HTML 3". It was a draft, and the Internet
  25. Engineering Task Force did not give it official standard status
  26. because while it followed the spirit of HTML much better than
  27. Netscape's hacks, Netscape had dominated the browser market and swept
  28. the carpet from below any standard definitions with their ad-hoc
  29. additions. The work on standardizing a next generation HTML syntax was
  30. given up as a hopeless struggle.

  32. Instead, IETF standardized HTML Level 2, which is what AWeb
  33. implements. In addition to that base standard, there are proposed
  34. additions such as tables etc, taken from the now-invalidated drafts of
  35. HTML+, HTML 3.0, and such.

  38. for yourself.
